Martin Clarke

Martin has spent over 25 years with an International Developer providing innovative solutions to complex property, housing and civil Engineering problems. As a result of this varied experience, he has come to recognize that a vital aspect of consultancy is to identify and add value to the Clients business. Recently, as a team leader, Martin has coordinated the activities of Architects as well as Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, and Building Services Engineers on the design of a straw burning power station. He was also responsible for the infrastructure design for a major luxury riverside development. This demanded considerable liaison with such diverse bodies as the Environment Agency, British Waterways and Thames Water and required good communication with fellow Professionals, Clients and Contractors.

Chris Kilpatrick

With a career spanning almost 30 years, including 20 as a design engineer with a major UK contractor, Chris has obtained a strong and diverse experience. His career has taken him through many spheres of design and construction, including nuclear power, wind energy, offshore structures, tunnelling projects and more recently railway infra-structure projects. In the role of Lead Project Engineer, Chris has gained an appreciation of the great importance of buildability and the need to deliver projects utilising safe and controlled methods of construction. He has spent a significant period working on LUL station modernisation projects and is fully conversant with the design and construction issues surrounding the provision of modern structures in a live heritage railway environment.

John Veares

CEng MICE MIStructE

John has worked in the construction industry for over 27 years, 21 of which were spent in the design office of a major building and civil engineering contractor. During his career he has become proficient in the design of structures in reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, aluminium and especially structural steelwork. These skills have been put to particular use in the design of temporary works including retained facades, basement excavations, tower crane foundations, access scaffolds and temporary roof structures. This experience has led to the role of Temporary Works Co-ordinator for a main contractor and steering group member for CIRIA publication RP626 – Retained Facades.

Outside the Company, John is the Treasurer & CPD Officer for the Thames Valley region of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
